‘Grapes from Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge. Two-thirds matured in amphorae and one-third in older oak for six months. The nose shows citrus plus oat meal, toasted almonds and some flinty reduction while the palate displays a good core of fruit, snappy acidity and a pithy finish. Producer information Tesselaarsdal is a label belonging to longstanding Hamilton Russell Vineyard’s employee, Berene Sauls. After joining Hamilton Russell Vineyards in 2001, her interest in wine making, harvesting and wine culture grew. She was then given the opportunity to produce her own wine, with her first wine being a 2015 Pinot Noir made by winemaker Emul Ross.
