A brilliant introductory wine to the Terre Nere range. The 2018 ticks all the boxes of a charismatic red wine which expresses fragrant, bright red fruit, tightly knit together with fine spice and earthy minerality. Produced from younger vineyards, high up on the north-facing slopes of Mt. Etna – farmed organically on volcanic soils.

'The 2018 Etna Rosso is going to make fans of Terre Nere very happy, as it balances primary intensity with refinement. A dazzling mix of crushed wild strawberries, cherries and savory herbs lifts up from the glass, complicated by smoky earth notes. It’s juicy and fleshy in texture, framed by mineral-tinged dark red fruits with energizing acidity. Savory exotic spice lingers long, accompanied by sapid notes of black currants and inner florals. Wow! It just keeps going. Vintage after vintage, the Terre Nere Rosso is one of the most dependable budget-friendly wines being made in Italy today. Drink 2021-2024.' – Eric Guido, Vinous, 92/100

'Even young it is a distinguished wine. Fresh, fragrant, beautifully slender and with a fine grip, it has a natural polish, a stage presence, as it were. And, in aging, as its weave gathers into rich complexity, it is a wine for gentlemen. It is an aristocratically liberal wine: enjoy it with whatever food you wish, as long as its properly cooked.' – Winemaker

Producer information Marc de Grazia is the owner and founder of Tenuta Delle Terre Nere and considered by many to be the pioneer in putting the region of Etna on the map. He was the driving force behind convincing the Italian wine industry the value of demarcating Contrada within their wine producing areas. Marc is a big fan of this classification system and has integrated the model into his own lineup. It is this kind of thinking and investigating that has made Marc and Terre Nere so successful. According to Robert Parker, 'Terre Nere's wines all possessed unbelievable freshness and complexity as well as huge perfumes that suggested Pinot Noir...These wines are astonishingly complex and ethereal efforts from the hillsides of Mt. Etna in Sicily.'
