‘Understated and low-key, like all the Swartberg reds, this is typically racy, tangy and zesty. Combining Grenache with 31% Syrah and 30% Pinotage, it's succulent, perfumed and acid-driven, all redcurrant and cherry fruit and savoury, spicy tannins. | Producer information | Rudiger Gretschel is the Production Director at Vinimark and oversees winemaking at Reyneke and Krone. He has created wine under his own label after almost 20 years of searching for the perfect parcel in Piekenierskloof. The special block he found 10 years ago is a 2.4 hectare plot of pinotage located on the top of the Piekenierskloof plateau, owned by Dr Jurgens Hanekom. The vines are cared for naturally; there is no tilling of soil, no seeding of cover crops or any form of herbicides usage. |
