| Producer information | Daniël de Waal, proprietor and winemaker of Super Single Vineyards wines, produces Pella Wines and Mount Sutherland Wines. Mount Sutherland wines came about when Daniël was in search of a cool continental vineyard, similar to those in Europe. He found the Kanolfontein farm in Sutherland and planted the first vines in 2004. At 1500 metres above sea level and 350 kms from the Indian Ocean, this is the highest and coldest wine growing region in Africa. Vineyards are covered in snow in the winter and produce a unique structure that sets the wines apart from South African coastal wines. |
