'Just as impressive as it was in barrel, the 2017 Suduiraut is positively dazzling. Pineapple, orange peel, crême brulée, white flowers, honey, apricot and hazelnut are some of the many nuances that develop in the glass. Rich and heady, yet also wonderfully vibrant, the 2017 is developing into a stunning Suduiraut. The 140 grams of residual sugar is very nicely integrated. Only the fruit from the last two picks made it into the Grand Vin.' – Antonio Galloni, Vinous, 97/100 (Mar 2020)

'Barrel Sample. Very concentrated, this is a great wine with rich intensity and balancing acidity. Honey and lemon flavors with a dry core of botrytis give the wine great balance as well as great potential for aging. Drink from 2025.' – Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, 95/100

'This is a step apart from the pack, featuring a range of papaya and mango fruit typical for the vintage, augmented by white peach, nectarine and Anjou pear flavors. Shows a gorgeous mouthfeel from start to finish, with light jasmine and orange blossom notes infused throughout. Ends with a seductive finish of warmed coconut and piecrust. Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc. Drink now through 2040.' – James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 94/100

'Pure copper colour. Classic, rich and ripe and sweeter than some (Sigalas Rabaud, for example) but exemplary. Pure, clean, bracing and refreshing yet so sweet. What the heck is not to like and why isn’t the world buying this sort of wine?? Presumably AXA allows the property to make the best wine possible without counting the cost, but still...' – Jancis Robinson, JancisRobinson.com, 18.5/20

'The 2017 Suduiraut has a compelling brininess to the nose with a core of lemon curd, lime cordial and green mango with touches of musk perfume and chalk dust. The mouth is very rich and packed with decadent layers, with just enough freshness and great length.' – Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate, 93-95/100

Producer information Château Suduiraut, located in Sauternes, was classed as a Premier Cru in the 1855 classification. The château dates back to 1580 when it received its names from Léonard de Suduiraut. The property was rebuilt in the 17th century after being burned down during the Fronde insurrection. The gardens were also renovated, creating one of the most magnificent properties in Bordeaux. The 91 hectares of vines are planted with 90% Semillon and 10% Sauvignon Blanc.
