‘76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Petit Verdot, 4% Malbec. Matured for 22 months in barrel, 50% new. Cassis, violets, tea leaf, bouquet garni and earth on the nose. Excellent fruit concentration, bright acidity and super-fine tannins, the finish long and ultra-dry. A wine that impresses in terms both its depth of flavour and overall harmony. 'Oude Nektar wasn't produced in 2021 because of the fires, but it's back with a bang in 2022. Sourced from a painterly, isolated spot located between 480 and 550 metres, it's an intense, focused, layered cuvée of Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Petit Verdot and 5% Malbec. | Producer information | Stark-Condé Wines is a boutique winery located in Jonkershoek Valley, started in 1998 by Hans and Midori Schroder, together with their daughter, Marie and her husband José. Their wines are hand-crafted in small volumes using traditional methods: hand sorting, open-top fermentations, hand punch-downs and manual basket pressing. All the Stark-Condé wines are bottled without fining and filtration. Winemaking is done by José. |
