We felt that we had to have a wine on our roster that was aspirational and slightly more serious. Coming off the back of an SA DESIGN LABEL AWARD for the layout of those 9-blocks and BLACK&GOLD just an immediate signal to bling! and flashy! Along with the fact that not all Pigs are pink, white, red etc etc THE BLACK PIG was created. We believe that it’s a suitable fit to wine that’s in the glass.

| Producer information | Two industry players, Dave Nel and David Wibberly, started the Spider Pig brand in 2015. It was an idea born from a scene in the Simpsons movie about a pig that walks on the ceiling: ‘Look-out, he is Spider-Pig’. What has it got to do with wine? Well, nothing! But the idea is that the label turns everything on its head. While their labels and wine names are fun and creative, their wines are serious. They work with various winemakers and aim to produce quality wines that are inviting and energetic, without being intimidating to people. |
