'Each release exclusively from one of the five clones planted on the property, this from Italian clone MO12. Matured for 22 months in French oak, 50% new. Black berries, subtle notes of olive and herbs plus earth and vanilla. The palate is forceful but equally very well balanced – great structure and plenty of tannic grip, the finish long and dry. A striking wine with huge depth of flavour.' – Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 96/100
'The wine has a fragrance of ripe red fruits such as plums and dark cherries, with earthy complexity and yet still expressing minerality. Maintaining a good acidity lends to outstanding freshness with a well integrated ripe and seductive tannin structure.' – Winemaker

Producer information | The name Shannon pays homage to the owner’s ancestors who come from Irish descent. Located in the Elgin Valley within the Kogelberg Biosphere, Shannon Vineyards’ unique terroir speaks for itself. With the Peninsula Dam creating the eastern boundary of the farm, the vineyards experience a cooling blanket of mist which is such a great geographical influencer on the farm’s climate, that Shannon has included the river mist in their logo. As such, the winemaking follows a minimal intervention approach to allow the different terroirs to be expressed in the wines. |
