'Gramadoelas, meaning nowheresville, comes from a vineyard in remote Klein Karoo, located 345 kilometres east of Bernhard Bredell's base in Stellenbosch. Focused, pithy and intense, it has a Riesling like purity, top notes of honeysuckle and lime blossom and a palate of citrus and orange zest. | Producer information | Scion refers to the top part of a plant/vine or can also mean 'the descendant of'. Sinai refers to the ‘Sinai Hill’ which is a granite hill in the lower Helderberg region. Bernhard Bredell used these words to create the name Scions of Sinai which is also applicable given that he is the 7th generation (descendant) of Bredell wine farmers. Scions of Sinai Wines mainly focus on curating the uniquely located vineyards of the Lower Helderberg region around a granite hill. Bernhard hopes that his wines express the vineyard, it’s soil and the vintage clearly and purely. |
