'The 2018 Pinot Noir (Sta. Rita Hills) is a glorious wine. A burst of sweet red/purplish fruit makes a strong opening statement that reverberates off layers of savory and floral intensity. Deceptive in its mid-weight structure, the 2018 packs a serious punch. Readers who want to get a sense of the year would do well to start here. This striking appellation-level Pinot is one of the overachievers of the year. Then again, vineyard sites are Domaine de La Côte and Sanford & Benedict, which was not bottled separately, but used for wine. The 30% whole clusters are perfectly judged. 'Deepish crimson and much darker than the other Pinots in this line-up. Relatively dark-fruited, peppery, and with a herbal stemmy note though I don’t know if they include stems in the ferment. Savoury and restrained with elegant dark fruit and just a hint of perhaps one riper fruit component in the mix. Dry and fresh overall. Drink 2021-2024.' – Julia Harding MW,, 16/20

Producer information Sandhi is a small production California winery founded by Rajat Parr, the wine director for Michael Mina Restaurants, and winemaker, Sashi Moorman in 2010. They focus on select vineyards from the Sta. Rita Hills in Santa Barbara County which they find possess the best character, personality, and balance. They place great emphasis on the collaboration between man, earth, and vine and produce great wine with the joint efforts of all three.
