'The 2015 Peter Barlow Cabernet Sauvignon was matured for 24 months in 64% new oak. It has more finesse and complexity than the John X Merriman, featuring blackberry, briar and bilberry fruit mixed with mint and cedar. The palate is well balanced with a grippy entry, nicely judged acidity and a lightly spiced, mint- and clove-infused finish. Again, I would have liked more precision to show through on the finish, but it is clearly Rustenberg’s best offering this vintage.' - Neal Martin, Vinous, 90/100

| Producer information | Rustenberg, located in the Simonsberg Mountain valley, was founded in 1682. In 1941, Peter and Pamela Barlow bought Rustenberg, as well as another farm which had originally been a part of Rustenberg. They joined the two properties and have now been running Rustenberg for over 70 years. Rustenberg is a leading producer of iconic, long-ageing wines. Stellenbosch is home to some of the finest Cabernet Sauvignon terroir in the world but very few sites are more special than Rustenberg’s Peter Barlow single vineyard. |
