‘Instantly impressive with a regal and elegant nose, the 2019 Baron Edmond is composed of 40% Merlot, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot and 3% Malbec. Beginning with layers of complexity and freshness, the glass slowly offers a brilliant cohesion of ripe, fleshy plum skin with notions of crème de cassis, alongside attractive oak elements with notions of freshly opened red flowers. Medium to full-bodied, the palate displays a delightful array of oak spices; nutmeg, vanilla and cardamom all vye for attention before the palate reveals a lovely mineral tension with soft herbal essences that glide with grace across the mid-palate. Firm, not too tight tanins grip the mouth and gum line before ending with an incredibly pleasurable, food-friendly finish offering power and finesse.
