‘Grapes from the vine garden established by Bosman Family Vineyards on its Upper Hemel-en-Aarde property, a source of mother material for propagation purposes. Wessels selected eight varieties that all sat “within a certain window of ripeness” and then co-fermented. Some 50% consisting of Cinsault, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, the rest being Barbera, Malbec, Roussanne, Ruby Cabernet and Tinta Barocca. The nose shows red berries, floral perfume plus hints of herbs, pepper and spice. Delicate and balanced with a persistent, dry finish. Drink now however it will further reward after a few years’ ageing. A great food wine.’ – Winemaker

| Producer information | Restless River is a rising star which has quietly achieved cult-status for its brilliant, Burgundian-style Chardonnay and lean Cabernet Sauvignon. The Restless River label was launched in 2012 and is managed and owned by Craig and Anne Wessels, winemaker and manager respectively. Their farm is located in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley and has some of the oldest Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay vines in the region (planted in 1998). Almost all their production is done by hand, resulting in limited quantities of each wine. |
