'This is fresh and focused with amazing balance and presence. Good structure under the fresh berry fruits, with notes of spice, iodine and firm tannins finishing things off. A really stylish wine with nice intensity, but also a sense of freshness and a grippy backbone.' – Jamie Goode, Wineanorak.com, 95/100

'Querciabella's 2017 Chianti Classico Riserva is fabulous. Sweet perfumed aromatics open up first as this silky, mid-weight Riserva shows off its allure. The warm, dry vintage notwithstanding, Querciabella turned out a gracious, Riserva that is incredibly elegant. The 2017 changes constantly in the glass, revealing different sides of its personality over time. It's the perfect wine for the dinner table. 2022 – 2037' – Antonio Galloni, Vinous, 94/100 (Sept 2020)

'With numerous plots in diverse zones at varying altitudes, exposures and soils, Querciabella’s harvest was protracted. This sees grapes picked as early as 6 September blended with fruit picked up to a full month later. It takes some time to shed its initial sweet oak nuances, but it's worth the swirling. Sweet spice, sandalwood and ripe red cherry give way to pressed violets and flinty stone. The palate has a sunbaked feel with dry, grainy tannins. Less buttoned up and more wild than usual, it ends on a surprising uplifting and succulent note. 2022 – 2029.' – Michaela Morris, Decanter Magazine, 92/100

Producer information The story of Querciabella began in 1974 when Giuseppe 'Pepito' Castiglioni purchased a single hectare of vineyards on a Tuscan hillside. He was an industrial entrepreneur by trade but his dreams and passions were in producing wine. In the mid-1990s Pepito's son, Sebastiano Cossia Castiglioni, took over the vineyards and took Querciabella's reputation to new heights. He saw to it that Querciabella was one of the first wineries in Italy to convert to organic viticulture and was a pioneer in his biodynamic approach. Sebastiano's passion for animal rights also led to the vegan certification of Querciabella. Today Querciabella's vineyards span more than 100 hectares, located in Chianti Classico and Maremma and are planted with all the grape varieties that Pepito only dreamed of when purchasing that first hectare of vineyards.
