‘Perfumed and stylish with fresh thyme and redcurrants with some lead pencil. Medium-bodied with very crisp fruit and a bright and energetic finish. Lively acidity frames the wine with fine tannins. Shows brightness and vibrancy. Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese. At the moment it is dense, but with bottle ageing it will develop wonderfully. From organically grown grapes.’ – James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com, 98/100
‘The 2019 Camartina is a dense, powerful wine. After tasting a large flight of Sangioveses, the Camartina really stands out because of its strong Cabernet imprint and more obviously present sweet oak. Dark red fruit, mocha, new leather blood orange and sweet spice all take shape in the glass. Camartina is undoubtedly an excellent wine, but there is also no doubt it has been surpassed as the flagship here. Cabernet Sauvignon components were aged in standard 225-liter barrels, while the Sangiovese was aged in 500-liter tonneaux. 2025-2039’ – Antonio Galloni, Vinous, 95/100
‘Fresh and infused with black currant, cherry, plum, iron and underbrush flavors. Beautifully balanced, this firms up on the finish, yet reveals requisite fruit to shine through on the long aftertaste. Exudes the austerity of the vintage. Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese. Best from 2026 through 2043.’ – Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, 94/100
‘Fresh and imbued with flavours of blackcurrants, cherries, plums, iron and undergrowth. Wonderfully balanced, it tightens up on the finish, but shows the necessary fruit to shine through in the long aftertaste. It radiates the austerity of the vintage.’ – Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, 94/100

Producer information | The story of Querciabella began in 1974 when Giuseppe 'Pepito' Castiglioni purchased a single hectare of vineyards on a Tuscan hillside. He was an industrial entrepreneur by trade but his dreams and passions were in producing wine. In the mid-1990s Pepito's son, Sebastiano Cossia Castiglioni, took over the vineyards and took Querciabella's reputation to new heights. He saw to it that Querciabella was one of the first wineries in Italy to convert to organic viticulture and was a pioneer in his biodynamic approach. Sebastiano's passion for animal rights also led to the vegan certification of Querciabella. Today Querciabella's vineyards span more than 100 hectares, located in Chianti Classico and Maremma and are planted with all the grape varieties that Pepito only dreamed of when purchasing that first hectare of vineyards. |
