The first of their nine Riservas is the ‘drop-dead gorgeous’ (Kerin O’Keefe) Asili, with ‘extreme finesse and heady scents’. The Montefico ‘knocks it out of the park’ (Wine Advocate), while the Montestefano is a ‘wine of stature and textural depth’ (Vinous) that combines ‘power, elegance and class’ (Kerin O’Keefe). Their Müncagota shows ‘depth and profound character’ (Wine Advocate) and is ‘shaping up to be gorgeous’ (Vinous).
Produttori’s classic Ovello is the best of both worlds – ‘succulent and enveloping’ (Kerin O’Keefe) yet boasting ‘elegant mineral definition and nervous tension’ (Wine Advocate). And two of my forever-favourites are Pajè, which is ‘fragrant and youthful’ with ‘fantastic energy’ (Kerin O’Keefe) and Rabajà, described as a vintage car, ‘a wine of beauty, depth and power’ (Wine Enthusiast). Their advice? ‘Drink now until there is no more.’
Known for its softer, silkier tannins, there’s the Pora, with ‘a seriousness on the palate, a stunning wine’ (Wine Enthusiast). And finally the ‘dazzling’ (Kerin O’Keefe) Rio Sordo steps up the pace and intensity. It’s a rich wine with dark fruit and a mineral chalky finish. ‘After the demure expressions from Pora and Pajè comes this little thoroughbred’ (Wine Advocate).
