Produttori del Barbaresco

From dream vintages 2016, 2019 & more

After visiting Aldo Vacca and his Produttori del Barbaresco team last year, we have even more love for these vineyards and wines. Dating back to 1894 and officially founded in 1958, it’s rightly regarded as one of the best cooperatives on the planet, and their wines remain ridiculously good at every level.

After three years in oak botti and three years in bottle, Produttori released their long-awaited 2016 Barbaresco 'Don Fiorino' Riserva. This is a multi-vineyard blend from 2016 – known as ‘Il Sogno’‘dream’ vintage in Piedmont – and was last made in 1990. We’re delighted to offer the 2016 Don Fiorino in a pack with their newly released 2022 Langhe Nebbiolo and 2019 Barbaresco.

2021 Delaire Graff – A super-charged Botmaskop!

The 2022 Langhe Nebbiolo is bright and focused, with brooding power and classic dark cherry and violet notes. 'A little surprise from Produttori,' says the Wine Advocate, considering 2022 was regarded as a warmer vintage.

2019 was an exemplary vintage in Piedmont. Classical, mineral and nuanced wines were made, with Nebbiolo's innate power and grace, incredible vitality, and clarity of terroir. 'A gorgeous wine' (Vinous) and 'a fantastic expression' (Jeb Dunnuck) note the critics on Produttori del Barbaresco's exceptional 2019 Barbaresco.

Named after the appellation and village, Produttori del Barbaresco was formed when the local headmaster of the Royal Enological School brought nine Barbaresco vignerons together to produce one wine from some of the best vineyards in the DOCG appellation. Sadly things came to an end during the Second World War until the local priest, Don Fiorino, convinced 19 growers to produce wines under the name Produttori del Barbaresco in the 1950s, building the cooperative to what it is today.

For the zenith of Piedmont – and for that matter Italian wine – get all nine rare single-vineyards in our Ultimate Produttori Pack.
