'Ripe, full and explosive with a big tannic frame. Expressive dark fruit aromas and flavour. Broad palate, tannins present but finely etched. Persistent. Drinking Window 2023 - 2034.' – James Lawther MW, Decanter, 92/100

'Blackberry, blueberry and orange-peel aromas follow through to a full body with a solid core of fruit and a fresh, tangy finish. The hazelnut and walnut undertones add to the complexity. Drink in 2021 and onwards.' – James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com, 92/100

'A restrained style, but with a tasty core of juicy plum and red currant fruit that melds with light mulling spice, black tea and sanguine notes. There's a dusting of cedar on the finish. Drink now through 2028.' – James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 91/100

'An outstanding Moulis made with consulting help from Stéphane Derenoncourt, the 2016 Château Poujeaux offers up a rock star, medium to full-bodied, layered profile as well as pretty notes of ripe black fruits, graphite, violets, and background oak. Give this sleeper 2-3 years of bottle age and it will impress for a decade or more.' – Jeb Dunnuck, 90/100

'The 2016 Poujeaux has a pretty, floral bouquet that reveals a light marine influence in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with quite a potent spicy entry, plenty of black pepper and tobacco and a boisterous finish. A little uncouth but still enjoyable. Tasted blind at the Southwold tasting. Drink 2022-2035.' – Neal Martin, Vinous, 89+/100

'Medium garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Poujeaux is scented of fried herbs, tar and earth with baked plums and a waft of rocks. The palate is medium-bodied, firm, chewy and herbal. Drink 2019-2029.' – Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate, 89/100

Producer information Château Poujeaux, which can be traced back to the 16th Century, lies in the wine-producing district of Moulis-en-Médoc in Bordeaux, France. It is one of the most highly regarded wines within Moulis. Over many years, Château Poujeaux had been sold, split up and divided and it was not until 1921 that the divided sections were brought back together under the Theil family. In 2008 the Cuvelier family became the new owners of Château Poujeaux and the château underwent many changes and improvements. Today, Poujeaux produces some of the best wines in the history of the estate.
