'Breathtaking in freshness and delicate on the palate, this full-bodied but airy red is a marvelous study of Grenache grown on sand and limestone soils at 1,000 feet above sea level. Don't be alarmed by the 15.5% listed alcohol—this wine is powerfully concentrated but almost ballerina-like on its feet. A small amount of Cinsault in the blend lends zest and a kiss of blossomy perfume on the finish. Stunning young, the wine should hold well through 2030.' – Anna Lee C. Iijima, Wine Enthusiast, 95/100

'For the 2018 Ventoux Silica—the second vintage of this cuvée, which is 90% Grenache sourced from sandy soils—70% was aged in demi-muids, while the balance matured in concrete eggs. It's richer and fuller than the 2017, harmoniously mixing vanilla and cedar notes with ripe raspberries. It's full-bodied and creamy textured, finishing rich, chewy and long, with hints of licorice adding even more interest. It looks capable of aging for a decade or more. Drink 2020-2030.' – Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advoctae, 92-94/100

'Alluring, offering a mix of steeped cherry and plum purée flavors infused with black tea and mesquite hints, with a silky edge. Nice cut on the finish from a subtle sanguine hint. Grenache and Cinsault. Drink now through 2023.' – James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 91/100

'Very rich, earthy and concentrated. Long but still quite tannic.' – Jancis Robinson, JancisRobinson.com, 16.5+/20

Producer information Château Pesquié, situated northeast of Avignon within the Rhône Valley, is a place that, according to Wine Spectator, looks like it has produced fine wines for decades. The estate consists of 250 acres of organic vineyards spread over the foothills of Mont Ventoux. Its landmark is the wind-whipped, white limestone peak that watches over the estate. Robert Parker calls Château Pesquié one of his 'all-time favorite producers in France', and their reputation confirms this after receiving more than a dozen 90-plus-point scores for their wines. Their wines are described as fresh, fruit-driven and exuberant, and are the best examples of today's Ventoux AOC bottlings.
