Olivier Leflaive, Puligny-Montrachet Les Enseignères 750ml 2015France, Burgundy
One of Burgundy’s most impressive names, Olivier Leflaive is recognised as much for the consistent quality and style of its wines as for the sheer breadth of its range. ‘Today, he is one of Burgundy’s top white wine producers and the maison wines match the domaine wines for their sheer quality, class and longevity!’ – Roland
The Leflaive family have been Burgundy producers for many decades but, in 1984, Olivier Leflaive set up his merchant house producing wines under his own label from his own vineyards in Puligny-Montrachet. To establish his estate, he purchased 12 hectares of land in prestigious appellations including village Meursault to the Grands Crus of Montrachet and Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet. Today, Olivier Leflaive controls all the winemaking and the ageing of the wines. Each vintage benefits from an individual approach and guarantees the authenticity of each appellation.
'This sleek white combines lemon and apple flavors with a bracing structure. Leans toward the tart side in the balance, yet builds nicely and finds equilibrium in the end. Best from 2018 through 2025. 150 cases imported.' – Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, 90/100
'Firm reduction. The medium weight flavors are, somewhat surprisingly, both richer but also finer with an impressive level of sappy dry extract that buffers the firm acid spine shaping the powerful, highly persistent and well-balanced finish. This is a very impressive Puligny villages and well-worth a look.' – Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, 89-92/100
A whole of four plots scattered on the terroir located below les Grands Crus of Batard and Bienvenues Batard. This terroir is considered as the richest and the most powerful of its category. Blend of several plots with a brown soil on a limestone flagstone.
