Olivier Leflaive, Meursault 750ml 2015France, Burgundy
One of Burgundy’s most impressive names, Olivier Leflaive is recognised as much for the consistent quality and style of its wines as for the sheer breadth of its range. ‘Today, he is one of Burgundy’s top white wine producers and the maison wines match the domaine wines for their sheer quality, class and longevity!’ – Roland
The Leflaive family have been Burgundy producers for many decades but, in 1984, Olivier Leflaive set up his merchant house producing wines under his own label from his own vineyards in Puligny-Montrachet. To establish his estate, he purchased 12 hectares of land in prestigious appellations including village Meursault to the Grands Crus of Montrachet and Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet. Today, Olivier Leflaive controls all the winemaking and the ageing of the wines. Each vintage benefits from an individual approach and guarantees the authenticity of each appellation.
'Vibrant and toasty, with smoke, vanilla and clove notes augmented by peach, apple and lemon flavors, backed by a lively structure that leaves a clean, tangy aftertaste. Best from 2018 through 2028. 500 cases imported.' – Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, 92/100
'There is enough post-bottling sulfur to render the aromatic profile tough to read today. Otherwise there is exceptionally good richness to the very generously proportioned medium weight flavors that possess a highly seductive mouth feel while the saliva-inducing, clean and notably dry finish is shaped by citrus-tinged acidity. This is a very fine Meursault villages and also worth considering.' – Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, 89/100
It is the biggest village of la Côte de Beaune which produces mainly white wines. According to the location of plots, the soil is rich and deep (at the bottom of the hilside) or limestone and marly in the "mountain". Our cuvee comes from a blending of about fifteen different but complementary plots in order to obtain rich and elegant wines.
