'The 2016 Tinto Conciso is a field blend, heavy on Baga (about 40%), plus Jaen, Alfrocheiro and Tinta Pinheira, aged for 20 months in used 2,000-liter fuders. It comes in at 12.5% alcohol. Bottled about six weeks before tasting, this was in pretty good shape. Spicy, with a touch of forest floor followed by red fruits, this is a lighter-styled red but an enticingly lively one. It is also filled with flavor. It has a certain Pinot Noir-like demeanor overall. Silky and fresh, this is very appealing. It is worth buying it just to smell the crushed cherries on the nose. 'The 2016 Conciso displays a light colour, with violet hues. A very intense and complex aromatic profile delights the nose with freshness, minerality and fruits of the forest mingling with pepper and clove. With some time and air, the wine opens up even further, which is why we would also suggest decanting the wine in advance. The palate entices with its multiple layers of fresh fruit and silky tannins. This is a wine with presence, elegance and great freshness – a pure representation of the Dão appellation, with beautiful acidity and balance. The finish is long, layered and delicate.' – Niepoort

Producer information The Niepoort family has been creating Port Wines since 1842. Dirk Niepoort, fifth generation, is the head of the business after his father, Rolf’s retirement in 2005.
