‘Grapes from the Paardeberg. 100% crushed whole-bunch fermentation. Complex aromatics of red berries, potpourri, fynbos, a hint of cured meat and white pepper while the palate shows pure and concentrated fruit matched by a cracking line of acidity, the tannins super-grippy but not coarse. A precise wine with captivating tension. Alc: 13.5%.’ – Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 97/100

Fermented with 100% whole clusters, like all of the site-specific Mullineux Syrah, this is the most intense, backward and well-structured of the trio. Serious, compact and concentrated, it's a red that wouldn't look out of place in Cornas, with violet aromas, damson and blackberry fruit, sturdy tannins and the freshness and focus of a cool vintage. 2025-35 – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2023, 96/100

‘The ripening season of this vineyard saw fair weather conditions, resulting in the naturally balanced fruit purity, chalky tannins and enhanced aromatics present in this wine. The shaded canopy of this deep rooted GRANITE Syrah contributed to hints of white Lily and light spice on the nose, red berry compote on the palate and a stony minerality on the finish. The wine will age at least 25 years and decanting is recommended when this wine is opened young.’ – Winemaker

Producer information At the cutting-edge of SA fine wine, the Mullineuxs have received many ground-breaking awards and, since 2007, have focused their Swartland efforts on Syrah and Chenin Blanc. Their extensive knowledge of Swartland soils, and what Andrea calls a 'growing technical maturity', has consistently led to the release of some of the most definitive expressions of the Swartand's various terroirs. With over a decade of dedication to winemaking in the Swartland, and considering the consistency and track record across their various bottlings, Chris and Andrea Mullineux are one of SA's top producers.
