With last night’s good news, what better way to celebrate South African wine and the ‘breaking of the ban’ than to highlight a local icon? The Cape Point Vineyards Isliedh is firmly established as one of SA’s best white wines and the 2019 release even surpasses the quality and stature of the exquisite 2018.
A pure expression of a special, single vineyard overlooking the Noordhoek beach, the Isliedh is one of SA’s highest-rated Bordeaux whites – vintage after vintage. Underscoring its incredible pedigree, the 2019 has been awarded a Platter’s 5 Star (96/100) and 96 points from Tim Atkin MW.
This South African benchmark shows subtle oak notes, a trademark bouquet of white flowers, stone fruit, buchu, blackcurrant and fynbos that leads on to a seamless, refined and regal palate with a lingering, saline end. The Isliedhs age beautifully and the 2019, with its blend of 74% Sauvignon Blanc and 26% Sémillon, is pure class.
‘Arguably the finest Bordeaux blend in the country.’ – Tim Atkin MW
Produced from vineyards established by Rosa Kruger, the Isliedh grapes are sourced from a south-facing parcel, high on the Cape Point peninsula, overlooking Noordhoek. This harsh, marginal climate is perfectly suited to producing wines of character and the gifted Riandri Visser has continued to coax and harness this fine vineyard and its potential.
We've put together a list of over 70 wines under R300 for you to stock up on now that the South African alcohol restrictions have been lifted. These wines are either in our warehouse, ready to deliver, or on on the way from our suppliers as we speak. We whole-heartedly look forward to delivering wines to doorsteps across the country!
