'A combination of natural and commercial yeasts were used for fermentation and the wine was matured in old oak for seven months. The nose shows pear, white peach, a hint of lemon plus some yeasty complexity while the palate is light bodied with bright acidity and a savoury finish. 'The Monday's Child Chenin Blanc 2019 shows perfumed, fresh quince, tangy citrus and a savoury finish. We hope you enjoy dinking it as much as we do.

This Chenin blanc is produced from 31 year old dryland vines grown in the Polkadraai region in Stellenbosch. This particular sight enjoys cooling sea breezes during those hot Stellenbosch afternoons. We picked these grapes around 21 Brix to retain a freshness in the wine. After whole-bunch pressing the juice was racked to old puncheon barrels where a combination of natural and commercial yeasts were used for fermentation. Having spent 7 months on gross lees, we bottled without fining or filtration, yielding a total of 1247 bottles.' – Alexandra McFarlane, Winemaker

Producer information This family owned, small-batch winemaking venture was started by Alexandra McFarlane. She previously worked at Druk My Niet in Paarl and has now released her maiden wine, Monday’s Child Chenin Blanc 2019, under the McFarlane Wines label. In Alexandra’s words, ‘we love making wines that are delicious to drink and unpretentious. Every vineyard, vintage and bottle has a story that we look forward to sharing with you on our journey into honestly made, proudly South African wine.’.
