Producer information Botanica, located on Protea Heights farm, was founded in 2009 by owner and winemaker, Ginny Povall. Ginny flies somewhat under the radar but is best known for her multiple Platter’s 5-star winner, the Mary Delany Chenin Blanc. Since Protea Heights farm was the first in South Africa to cultivate indigenous protea flowers commercially, it is fitting that the wine labels are floral themed. Just under half of the 21.6 hectares are planted with indeginous flowers, and since 2014 Botanica has been practicing organic farming in their vineyards. There’s a wonderful sense of quiet purpose and ‘painterly’ aesthetic to Ginny’s approach to winemaking.
