Tasting notes:
'The 2014 Barolo Brunate takes us to the more structured and robust side of the Nebbiolo spectrum. The Brunate cru in La Morra is known for its deeply saturated, enriched and elegant wines. This expression from Marco Marengo makes sure that a healthy dose of sheer elegance is part of that formula. The lighter and more ethereal character of the cool 2014 vintage also comes through. The results shown here are polished and finely textured, with blue fruit and dried currant followed by tar, licorice and spice. The finish is long and silky with excellent tannic management.' – Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, 94/100

‘Cherry, strawberry, tar and underbrush aromas and flavors signal this supple red. Rich and accessible, showing fine balance, harmony and length. Best from 2021 through 2036.’ – Wine Spectator, 92/100

About Marengo:
The Marengo family is a small producer based in La Morra, Piedmont and has been producing Barolo since 1899. Their 1.5 hectare block of Brunate, planted in 1950, represents an incredible one-quarter of their vineyard holdings. The farm is currently run by Marco, after his father, Mario passed away in 2001. The philosophy of Marco is to respect what the vineyards give him, as much as possible. The work in the vines is more important to him than the work in the cellar.
