The Marengo family is a small producer based in La Morra, Piedmont and has been producing Barolo since 1899. Their 1.5 ha block of Brunate, planted in 1950, represents an incredible one-quarter of their vineyard holdings! The farm is now run by Marco, very successfully, totally on his own after his father Mario passed away in 2001.
The philosophy of Marco is to respect what the vineyards give him, as much as possible. The work in the vines is more important to him than the work in the cellar.

'The 2014 Barolo Bricco delle Viole is a wine with a very distinct and identifiable aromatic personality. Maybe it's the power of suggestion, but the vineyard name Bricco delle Viole says it all. There is a strong floral signature here with pressed blue violets in a leading role. This is a delicate and graceful expression with nuanced aromas and a profound sense of depth. The lighter and more finessed nature of the cool 2014 vintage jibes very well with that central floral theme.' – Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, 93+/100
