MacRobert & Canals Barranco del San Ginés 2021 Bottle size: 750ml

‘The 2021 Barranco del San Ginés is darker and feels more complex, deep and complete, possibly the effect of a very good vineyard and a cooler year with a slower and thorough ripening of the grapes, allowing more nuances and aromatic complexity. It's medium to full-bodied and harmonious, with power, elegance and freshness. This fermented in concrete with indigenous yeasts and matured in 600-liter oak barrel for (almost) one year. It's a serious terroir red transporting you to the 1.18-hectare plot that was planted in 1935 (or at least registered that year) with an old selection of Tempranillo on small terraces on a slope at some 570 meters in altitude following the contour lines in the village of Laguardia. The vineyard has been organically farmed for almost 10 years now, and it's full of life; it's a vineyard like the old Rioja used to be, intermixed with fruit trees and with small dry stone walls, wells and very shallow, limestone-rich soils.
