'They buy their organically grown fruit from Visan and Sabran in the southern Rhône, truck it to Paris in refrigerated trucks and then vinify it in their Paris cellar. Named after the street where they have their winery. Fermented with ambient yeast. Unoaked. Mid purple-rimmed cherry red. So vibrant on the nose: dusty, nervy red-cherry fruit with a touch of cranberry zing, small wild red berries. On the palate, still all that energy and vitality but balanced and made more serious by the fine chalky tannins. Bone dry and yet full of fruit. The juiciness of the fruit and serious firmness to the texture – a lot of paper-fine tannins that give it rocky mineral character – marry beautifully. I'd give this at least another year in bottle but I am equally sure it will age for a decade or more. Impressive length. 'Deep ruby ​​color. Gourmet nose of red fruits (raspberry cherry) and flowers (peony), slight peppery and garrigue note. Charming with a nice roundness on the attack, a nice fat, supple and harmonious tannins. Slight spicy notes. Producer information It took quite some time to get permission to open the doors of Paris’s first urban winery, Les Vignerons Parisiens. Moving grapes across appellations into a city, with négociant-style production, is the antithesis of the AOC – appellation d'origine contrôlée – the government certification that regulates French wine with roots back to the 15th century. The vineyards are, of course, located elsewhere in Visan, Southern Rhône which is a 15-hour journey by refrigerated truck. Les Vignerons Parisiens is a collaboration between 4 oenologists and biodynamic viticulture consultants who have worked with Southern Rhône vines for 2 decades. Focused on single varieties, the wines are all labelled Vin de France, farmed organically and produced using very simple winemaking.
