‘This has punch and mouth-watering juicy acidities. Cheerful, enticiting, blackberry and loganberry fruits, and all is in place to add on further depth over ageing. There is rusticity that speaks of the vintage, but it is charming and this is easy to recommend. Another great vintage at Ormes de Pez, one of the value wines of the year. 45% new oak. 2023-2032’ - Jane Anson, janeanson.com, 93/100

‘The 2021 Ormes de Pez is matured in 45% new oak. This has a fragrant nose, very well defined, in fact, perhaps more sophisticated than the Haut-Batailley at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, a little powdery in texture, touches of graphite towards the almost Pauillac-like finish. A stylish Saint-Estèphe, this is recommended. 13.13% alcohol. 2027-2055’ – Neal Martin, Vinous, 91-93/100

‘Sweet strawberry, orange, grapefruit, plums and blackcurrants, but the sweet jammy kind. This is fruit forward and expressive out the gate, round and so appealing. Spiced aspects from the Petit Verdot with a sturdy backbone in terms of structure and frame. Tannins are more on the austere side, fine and detailed, extremely mouthfilling but you can almost taste each one with the minerality coming through strongly leaving that clean wet stone taste in the mouth. Ripe and juicy dark fruit also. This is medium bodied with lots of precision in terms of detail. Lovely potential here. 5% Petit Verdot completes the blend. 3.68pH. 2024-2040’ - Georgina Hindle, Decanter, 91/100

‘The 2021 Ormes de Pez delivers notes of cassis, pencil shavings and toasty oak, followed by a medium-bodied, suave and polished palate with a nicely concentrated core of fruit framed by tangy acids and sweet, powdery tannins. 2025-2037’ - William Kelley, Wine Advocate, 89/100

‘Shows mulled loganberry fruit that mingles with tobacco, cedar and savory hints, while tangy acidity asserts itself throughout. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Best from 2025 through 2031.’ - James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 88/100

‘Deep garnet. Distinctively ripe on the nose. Blackberry and blackcurrant. Leaner on the palate but better balanced than some. Dry, taut, a bit austere on the finish. 2027-2035’ - Julia Harding MW, JancisRobinson.com, 16/20
