Latour-Martillac Pessac-Léognan Rouge 2021 Bottle size: 750ml
France, Bordeaux
R670
‘The 2021 Latour-Martillac is very understated on the nose and demands coaxing from the glass, revealing blackberry, forest floor, pencil box and hints of black olive. It is nicely composed with judicious use of new oak. The palate is medium-bodied, well-defined, taut and crisp. It has fine sapidity on the finish, though it just lacks sustain on the aftertaste. Drink it over the next 12 to 15 years. 2026-2042’ – Neal Martin, Vinous, 91/100
‘The 2021 Latour-Martillac is a very pretty, open-knit wine. A burst of red/purplish fruit, spice, rose petal, lavender, menthol and mocha makes a strong opening statement. All the elements are so well balanced. Silky tannins and floral overtones on the finish add to an air of refinement. The 2021 is understated and classy all the way. 2026-2041’ - Antonio Galloni, Vinous, 91/100<
‘Fragranced and pretty on the nose. Juicy and nicely plump, a little bit of tangy, salty texture. Good energy and sense of life to this, clean and precise, very drinkable and appealing to drink now. Lovely finesse and just sense of gentle calmness and sleek presentation. All in balance and long. Red berries, some dried herbs, vanilla, clove, tobacco and cola. Cool and fresh. 2024-2032’ - Georgina Hindle, Decanter, 90/100
‘The 2021 Latour Martillac was matured for 14 months in barrels and three months in tanks before bottling. It evokes a classic, elegant bouquet with aromas of spices, plum, cassis and raspberry, followed by a medium-bodied, juicy and round palate with a nicely tense mid-palate and structuring tannins, concluding with an ethereal, long finish. 2024-2030’ - Yohan Castaing, Wine Advocate, 90/100
‘Light, Cabernet nose. Then a little awkward acidity on the palate. And a slightly pinched, ungenerous finish. Solid mid palate. Just a little stodgy, without lift. But a solid, classic choice with a long finish. 2028-2045’ - Jancis Robinson, JancisRobinson.com, 16+/20
