‘Cedar and luscious blueberries on this second-label wine. On the palate, blackberry fruits, intense acidity and a layer of firm tannins are in the background. Drink this wine from 2027.’ - Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, 93/100

‘Fresh and fruity nose, quite bright and expressive with clear berry fruit aromas aligned with touches of tobacco, liquorice and dark chocolate. Smooth and succulent, instantly juicy and mouthwatering. Clean and controlled, this has good energy and focus. It’s quite tart, verging on sour but the mineral chalky, wet stone grip brings it back and harmonises the finish with menthol touches and soft spiced edges. A sharp, tangy wine. High acidity but lovely and cool all the way through. Nice purity and finesse. 2025-2045’ - Georgina Hindle, Decanter, 92/100

‘The best estates have really worked the aromatics during ageing, recognising that the 2021s are less concentrated at their heart than many recent vintages. This is a great example, expressive and enticing, with spiced cloves and white pepper, campfire and crushed rocks, with plenty of raspberry and loganberry fruit that have a sense of springing back after the first sip. 48hl/h yields after no frost and very little mildew. 27% new oak. 2025-2038’ - Jane Anson, janeanson.com, 92/100

‘The 2021 La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion offers up a complex, fresh bouquet with aromas of lead pencil, spices, dark berries and menthol. Medium to full-bodied with a fleshy texture, it’s perfectly balanced with a structuring core of fruit, powdery tannins and a long, ethereal, delicate finish. It’s more polished and round than Le Clarence de Haut-Brion. 2024-2034’ - Yohan Castaing, Wine Advocate, 92/100

‘The 2021 La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion has a pure black cherry and wild strawberry bouquet, very well defined and revealing hints of vanilla pod with time. The palate is medium-bodied with fine but firm tannins, and quite concentrated for a Deuxième Vin, leading to a nicely structured, slightly chewy finish. A gutsy La Chapelle. 2025-2038’ - Neal Martin, Vinous, 89-91/100

‘Lively, juicy and at this stage a little more open than Le Clarence. Acidity evident but not obtrusive. Delicate fruit weight but plenty of energy and drive, the tannins fine and integrated. Balanced. Could improve further if it fills out in the bottle. 2026-2036’ - James Lawther MW, JancisRobinson.com, 16/20
