Intellego Kolbroek Syrah 2017 Bottle size: 750ml

Jurgen Gouws, from our first group of Young Gunners, produces his own wines under the Intellego label. Influenced by the natural wine movement, he has always produced wines that test the boundaries but his irreverent style has evolved and the Syrah is much more serious than its label suggests. Intellego follows organic farming practices.

'This vintage involved semi-carbonic fermentation on at least half the wine. A rather beautiful and irresistible nose of lavender, rose petal, red and black fruit plus pepper. The palate shows good fruit density given an alcohol of just 12%. Lean and racy with a bone-dry finish. Intellego Wines are terroir driven from the Swartland Appellation. The Swartland experiences a warm, dry climate which is favourable to grape varietals such as Chenin Blanc, Syrah, Cinsaut and Mourvedre.
