'The 2018 Chardonnay Kershaw GPS Lower Duivenhoks River, matured in French oak (43.6% new... exactly!) has a finely tuned bouquet of yellow plum, almond, chamomile and light apricot blossom scents, the oak nicely integrated. The palate is very well balanced, displaying fine acidity and poise. This is almost disarmingly harmonious. Fleeting touches of quince and orange zest are revealed toward the finish. Producer information Master of Wine and award-winning Elgin based winemaker, Richard Kershaw has one of the most unique approaches to winemaking in the Cape. He focuses on clonal selection and meticulously sources grapes from small parcels. Working with what is best suited to Elgin, Richard started with Chardonnay but soon branched out to Syrah and Pinot Noir. Formerly with Kanu and Mulderbosch, British-born Richard has an encyclopaedic knowledge of all matters vinous. His wines are produced in small quantities, they are refined and elegant, often described as ethereal.
