'Citrus notes on lithely graceful 2018, with floral & vanilla hints & a stony force. Recalls previous in its elegance, but particularly harmonious this vintage, with a lifted lightness, creamy texture & long-lingering finish. In magnum too.' – Platter's Guide, 4.5* (94/100)

'Made with fruit from the western side of Elgin, this hails from mixed granite, sandstone and quartz soils and features the "most linear" of the Chardonnay clones, according to Richard Kershaw. Waxy, leesy and toasty, it has more acidity than the winery's other 2018s, but is still a bold, plush and powerful Chardonnay with exotic fruit sweetness. Drink 2020-24.' – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2019, 93/100

'The 2018 Kershaw Deconstructed Lake District Cartref CY96, matured in 52% new oak, has a compelling nose of caramelized pear, acacia honey, orange blossom and light marmalade scents. The palate is beautifully balanced with a killer line of acidity, and a little spicier than the Elgin Chardonnay. Perhaps I am just seeking more persistence toward the finish; otherwise, this is another impressive Chardonnay from Kershaw. Drink 2022 - 2033.' – Neal Martin, Vinous, 92/100 (Apr 2021)

'Sourced from the western part of Elgin, known as the Lake District, this clone produces wines that are nervous, aromatic, elegant and crisp with slightly lower alcohol and finely balanced, the fruit profile being subtle with hints of citrus/orange peel and peach blossom and with time, some nutty elements. The Cartref soils, a mixture of decomposed granite, pebbles and quartz, add delicacy and heighten the fruit intensity.' – Richard Kershaw, Winemaker
