'The 2018 Kershaw Deconstructed Lake District Bokkeveld Shale CY95 is sharper and more mineral-driven than the CY96, presenting scents of red apple, citrus peel, crushed stone and melon. The oak is beautifully integrated. The palate is well balanced and precise, slightly creamy in texture on the entry and revealing gorgeous orange zest and black currant leaf notes on the finish. A cerebral and compelling Chardonnay from Kershaw. Drink 2022 - 2036.' – Neal Martin, Vinous, 94/100 (Apr 2021)

'Full-fruited, ripely intense 2018, the citrus deepened by an earthy-stony note. Cutting finesse & notably bright acidity makes for a forceful attack in youth, but there is promise of substantial complexity & elegance to come. Also in magnum.' – Platter's Guide, 4.5* (93/100)

'Generally the most opulent and forward of the Kershaw Chardonnays - a style that's enhanced by the high fructose levels of the 2018 vintage - this has sweet, aromatic stone fruit flavours, a hint of coconut spice and a textured, supple finish. Ripe and well made with stylish oak. Drink 2019-23.' – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2019, 93/100

'Sourced from a parcel in the western part of Elgin the 95 clone is known for its excellent quality creating wines that are aromatic, fuller bodied and rich yet tightly structured, well–balanced with length of flavour, managing to show restraint and mouth-watering passivity with a great line through the palate and fruit veering towards white peach flesh and nectarine. The Bokkeveld Shale brings amplified perfume on the nose and persistence and elegance to the palate.' – Richard Kershaw, Winemaker
