‘The 2020 Steytler Pentagon, Kaapzicht's Bordeaux-style blend, encapsulates the radical change afoot at this stalwart Stellenbosch winery. The aromatics instantly alert you to a great wine with gorgeous, pure black fruit commingling with iodine and blueberry. There is a paradoxical sense of restraint and generosity. The palate has a satin like texture, perfectly judged acidity and irresistible sweet cassis fruit on the finish. So wonderful that I nipped next door to my J'burg neighbours at the braai (barbeque) and presented them with the rest of the bottle. Wonderful. 2024-2050’ – Neal Martin, Vinous, 96/100

| Producer information | Kaapzicht is a 4th generation family-owned wine estate, located in Stellenbosch. The name Kaapzicht means ‘Cape view’ and is attributed to the beautiful views of Table Mountain and Cape Town which are seen from the farm. The Steytler family has farmed the land since 1946 and today, brothers Danie and George own the 190-hectare estate. Located on the Bottelary hill, the farm experiences a mild climate with cool sea breezes and consists of old, weathered granite soils. |
