Tim Atkin’s 2023 Special Report

SA’s top-scoring wines

Master of Wine Tim Atkin has just released his highly anticipated South Africa 2023 Report, which features 201 wines that were rated 95+ points and above! ‘The excellent scores support my belief that South Africa is making the best wines in its history, especially in vintages like 2017 and 2021,' he concludes. This annual report, now in its 11th edition, is the most comprehensive commentary on SA’s top-scoring fine wines.

Boschkloof Epilogue 2021 is Tim’s Red Wine of the Year and the fifth SA wine to be rated 100 points. The title of White Wine of the Year goes to Alheit Vineyards Huilkrans 2022, while Rall’s CWG Syrah 2021 joins the podium as his Red Wine Discovery of the Year, and Sadie Family Rotsbank Chenin 2022 is the White Wine Discovery of the Year.

At last night’s awards of Tim's 95+ point wines, Bruwer Raats was named Winemaker of the Year and Marelise Niemann of Momento Wines was named Young Winemaker of the Year. It was an event brimming with excitement and a room full of amazing wines. With many sold out and only limited stock of others, please see our list of the available highly rated wines here.
