'More evident wood can be found on the spicy poached plum, cassis and violet-suffused nose. The sleek, supple and attractively detailed medium weight flavors exude a fine bead of minerality on the lingering finish that immediately firms up as it sits on the palate. This is already excellent and potentially outstanding. Drink 2030+.' – Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, 91-93/100

‘The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru is also promising, exhibiting aromas of rich berry fruit, dark chocolate and creamy new oak. It’s medium to full-bodied, velvety and supple, with an ample core of sweet fruit, ripe acids and melting tannins. This sample showed slight signs of fatigue, so I suspect that the final cuvée may make my score seem conservative.’ – William Kelley, Wine Advocate, 90- 92/100

‘The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru was tasted from two barrels, both showing a little oxidation that I will have to look out for once in bottle. The palate is sweet and candied on the entry, very fleshy but missing some grip, so that the finish seems to evaporate. In a perverse way, I find the Village Cru from Chambolle-Musigny more satisfying, but let’s see how it ultimately turns out. I will not score this for now.’ – Neal Martin, Vinous

Producer information In 1880, a 22-year-old Joseph Drouhin settled in Beaune and founded his own wine company. His son Maurice succeeded him and established a domaine for the Drouhin house by buying land in outstanding appellations including the famous Clos des Mouches and Clos de Vougeot. Today, 4th generation Véronique Drouhin continues the family's prestigious Burgundy legacy. With 73 hectares of biodynamically-farmed vines, Joseph Drouhin is one of Burgundy's largest estates. With vineyards in close to 90 different appellations, Drouhin offers a fascinating array of Burgundy terroirs.
