Jean Roi is the French Huguenot who was granted land in Franschhoek valley and chose to name his farm 'L'Ormarins' after his hometown of Lourmarin in Provence, France. He is celebrated as a pioneer of L'Ormarins estate's 300 year old viticultural history quite fittingly in this wine that takes its inspiration from his birthplace.

The Jean Roi Cap Provincial Rosé - a blend of Cinsault, Grenache and Shiraz - is a premium style of rosé which takes its cue from the international summer drinking styles, in particular in the United States. This is a trend which is gaining ground globally amongst enthusiasts of fine wines. The bespoke regal style bottle embossed with Jean Roi’s initials, JR, adds extra appeal to this superb release from one of South Africa’s leading wine producers.

Besides the eye-catching bottle, the wine has instant appeal with its pale copper pink blush colour which filters through to alluring aromas of peach blossom and honeydew melon. It perfectly fits the description of 'summer in a glass'. A fusion of fresh summer fruit flavours of melon, peach and nectarine makes its presence felt on the palate. The refreshing acidity perfectly balances out the fruit flavours, adding an unexpected yet welcoming lemon zest twist to the mouthfeel. The Jean Roi Cap Provincial Rosé is perfect on its own but also partners beautifully with a delicious summer nectarine Caprese salad; grilled prawns and crayfish; or seared duck breast served with a raspberry jus.

The current vintage has yet to be tasted, the tasting notes below are from the 2016 vintage:
Instant appeal from the pale copper pink blush colour which continues with its alluring aromas of peach blossom and honeydew melon. The palate is vivacious with the immediate impact of bright, juicy melon, peach and nectarine flavour making itself felt. The acidity is refreshing and in harmony with the fruit, adding a lovely lemon zest twist to the mouthful. Rounded and full with good length, the wine finishes dry with a gentle hint of citrus peel at the end.
