'Perfectly ripe Sauvignon Blanc fermented with wild yeast in large wood format results in an array of complexity: textured, multi-layered with minerality, salinity, blackcurrant, white stone fruits, a rich palate and long zesty finish.' – Winemaker

Tasting notes on the 2019 vintage:
'Now in its third vintage, this delicious Sauvignon Blanc is produced from three different soil types and is fermented in a combination of second and third use wood. Saline and nettley with aromatic vanilla spice, a salty tang and fresh, grapefruity acidity. Drink 2020-24.' – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2020, 94/100

'A blend of 3 different clones from 4 vineyards in 2019. All-natural ferment/11 months in older oak add a toasted hazelnut nuance & plusher, broader spectrum of flavours than sibling. No lees stirring helps retain lemony vibrancy.' – Platter's Guide, 4.5* (94/100)

'Fermented and matured for 11 months in older 500-litre French oak barrels. The nose shows a herbal top note, citrus and peach plus some vanilla. The palate meanwhile shows clean fruit, vibrant acidity and a salty finish.' – Winemag Prescient Sauvignon Blanc Report 2020, Top 10

Producer information In 1997, Andrew Gunn purchased the beautiful Geelbeksvlei farm located 420 meters above sea-level, overlooking the Elgin Valley. This apple and pear farm was no longer proving to be profitable, and so with the advantageous location of the farm, Andrew decided to plant vines and pursue winemaking. Its high altitude and close proximity to the Atlantic Ocean results in a cool mesoclimate which has a moderating influence and results in consistent quality.
