'This is the first wine to display really prominent wood influence though it's not so much to overshadow the sauvage and earthy red and dark berry-suffused nose. This is also rich, powerful and concentrated yet the big-bodied flavors possess a sleek mouth feel as the firm structure is already well-integrated on the mildly austere finale. This is also very much built-to-age and is going to require extended cellaring. Drink 2032+.' – Allen Meadows,, 93-95/100

'From bottle, the 2015 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is one of the most reserved wines in the portfolio, opening in the glass with a brooding bouquet of plums, cassis, rich soil and wood smoke, framed by a judicious application of new oak. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, deep and concentrated but very taut and undemonstrative. The raw materials are formidable, but this will require more than a decade of bottle age to blossom: when it does, my score will likely look conservative. Drink 2027-2065.' – William Kelley, Wine Advocate, 94+/100

'The 2015 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a slightly lackluster bouquet that initially does not convey the energy or spark you look for in a young Pinot Noir, but then five minutes later, it is delightful and refined. The palate is fresh and tart on the entry, featuring earthy red fruit; however, it cuts away a little swiftly toward the finish. Fortunately, it fills out with aeration and ends up being quite an elegant Clos de Vougeot. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. Drink 2021-2045.' – Neal Martin, Vinous, 92/100

'Sweet red cherry fruit. Straightforward rather than subtle at this point. No shortage of tannin. Distinctly chunky.' – Jancis Robinson,, 17/20

Producer information Established in Vougeot in 1962 by Alain Hudelot, Hudelot-Noëllat has quietly risen to the top echelon of Côte de Nuits producers. In 2008, Alain retired and his grandson Charles van Canneyt took over, making wines of great refinement and complexity. They farm sustainably on their 10 ha of vineyards planted across 15 different appellations, spread over the villages of Nuits-Saint-George, Vougeot, Chambolle- Musigny and Vosne-Romanée. This includes the Grands Crus Romanée-Saint-Vivant, Richebourg and Clos de Vougeot. Hudelot-Noëllat is known for its old vines which average more than 50 years old with several vineyards dating back to 1920. The Hudelot-Noëllat wines are always the most elegant in a line-up. Their fresh acidity, deft use of oak and terroir-driven style appeals to the traditional Burgundy-lover seeking long-ageing wines.
