‘Jocelyn Hogan's Chenin Blanc comes from two challengingly low-yielding blocks on the Paardeberg and is a correspondingly intense, concentrated white. ‘The 2022 Chenin Blanc was picked in three passes through the vineyard in Joubertskloof in Swartland, whole bunch pressed with no SO2 addition, and matured in used French barrels. Like the Chardonnay, this is quite restrained on the nose, tightly wound with fresh lime, yellow plum and jasmine scents gently unfolding. The palate is well-balanced with a fine bead of acidity, quite taut with a little more tension than the Chardonnay, delivering subtle dried honey and grilled hazelnut nut notes on the finish. Their vines are grown in the Swartland and their wine produced in the Banhoek Valley. Jocelyn says of their wines, ‘our wines are never going to be consistent.
