'Poruzots occupies a prime mid-slope location, sandwiched between Genevrières and Les Gouttes d’Or, with an exposition east and a bit north, which can only have helped in 2019. The result shows extremely lively citrus aromas, with almost tropical, exotic, up front tones and a bit of spice from the 50% new oak used for the maturation. The wine has breadth and substance, but there is plenty of fresh acidity that carries it to a long, persistent finish. Drinking Window 2022 - 2034.' – Charles Curtis MW, Decanter, 94/100

'There is a trace of matchstick character to the green fruit and compote-like white orchard fruit aromas. The sleek, delicious and vibrant medium-bodied flavors possess a caressing, but overtly powerful mouthfeel while delivering excellent length on the very rich and sappy finale. This needs more depth but as examples of Poruzots generally go, it is really quite sophisticated. Drink 2027+.' – Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, 92/100

'The 2019 Meursault 1er Cru Les Poruzots is fleshy and generous, wafting from the glass with aromas of honeyed orchard fruit, orange oil, buttered toast and praline. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, with lively acids and an enveloping core of fruit, it's a gourmand but nicely balanced white Burgundy. Drink 2022-2042.' – William Kelly, Wine Advocate, 92/100

Producer information Based in Meursault, between the villages of Puligny-Montrachet and Volnay, Henri Boillot is at the epicentre of great winemaking. The Boillots have been tending vines and making wines since 1885. Henri joined in 1975, bought out his siblings in 2005 and his son, Guillaume, joined in 2008. It totals 19 hectares, with roughly equal surfaces of red and white. Included herein, is 4 hectares of the famous Monopole vineyard of Clos de la Mouchère which has developed a cult following. In a very short space of time, they’ve built an extraordinary reputation for the sheer quality of their Burgundy wines, it is no surprise that Allen Meadows thinks this superstar producer ‘has arguably become the finest pure négoce specializing in white Burgundy today’.
