‘A naturally exotic nose offers up hints of freshly sliced ginger, jasmine tea, pear and plenty of floral elements. The more subtle and notably finer medium weight flavors exude a light minerality on the caressing and seductive finish that is lemony, bone-dry and sneaky long finale. This is compact and serious, and I would suggest allowing this a minimum of 5 years of cellaring first. 2030+’ – Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, 94/100

‘The result is a bit closed initially, but with time the fruit begins to take shape - ripe pear, beeswax, mineral and marzipan. The texture is very subtle and elegant, retaining a surprising level of acidity that leads it to a lovely, lingering finish. Produced from a domaine-owned parcel of 0.16ha, the fruit is lightly crushed and pressed in a vertical press, prior to fermenting in cask (25% new) and ageing for 14 months. 2025 – 2040’ – Charles Curtis MW, Decanter, 94/100

‘Bright yellow with hints of green. Delicate – white blossom – acacia – honeysuckle – mandarine peel - Spices – white pepper – pure. Powerful - dense – very well-balanced. Full of energy – good minerality. Fine salinity - elegant. 2028 - 2034’ – Winemaker

Producer information Based in Meursault, between the villages of Puligny-Montrachet and Volnay, Henri Boillot is at the epicentre of great winemaking. The Boillots have been tending vines and making wines since 1885. Henri joined in 1975, bought out his siblings in 2005 and his son, Guillaume, joined in 2008. It totals 19 hectares, with roughly equal surfaces of red and white. Included herein, is 4 hectares of the famous Monopole vineyard of Clos de la Mouchère which has developed a cult following. In a very short space of time, they’ve built an extraordinary reputation for the sheer quality of their Burgundy wines, it is no surprise that Allen Meadows thinks this superstar producer ‘has arguably become the finest pure négoce specializing in white Burgundy today’.

‘Henri Boillot is often quoted as the best white wine négociant in Burgundy and there is no quality difference between his négociant and domaine wines. His son Guillaume is now in charge of the reds, which have seemingly become more elegant, pure and ethereal.’ – Roland Peens
