'Carl Schultz makes just three barrels of this old wood-fermented Riesling, produced in an Alsace style with the RW239 clone. About The Tenacity Range:
'The Tenacity range of very limited quantities showcases the pinnacle of what can be vinously achieved at Hartenberg. The wines could be once-offs, in the case of discovered old vine parcels in Bottelary, only to be bottled in exceptional vintages, or they could represent wines intended as candidates for CWG Auction Cellar Master Carl Schultz crafts three or four possible candidate wines annually for the CWG, assesses their provenance a year or two after bottling, then selects the best two examples for CWG Selection, be it a Shiraz and a Cab or Merlot or Riesling. The wines not used for sale at the exclusive CWG Auction are then offered under this label range.' – Hartenberg

Producer information Hartenberg is situated in its own self-contained valley on the slopes of the Bottelary Hills in Stellenbosch. It was created 30 years ago and has come a long way since its original poor parcel of dry gravelly soil. Hartenberg was one of the first South African estates to separately vinify grapes from a particular terroir. The 170-hectare property has a pure water source running through it, and a number of birds and animals which call Hartenberg their home. As such, the owners and staff have accepted responsibility for the conservation of the property through considered and sustainable use of all natural resources and various environmental initiatives.
