‘With fruit from La Morra, the Giulia Negri 2017 Barolo Serradenari shows dried fruit and scorched earth. The wine opens to dark plum and dark cherry, with campfire ember, baked brick, spice and bramble. It shows a medium finish, with some texture to the tannins that subside and becoming silky and smooth on the finish. 2023 - 2037’ – Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, 90/100

‘La Morra. Tasted blind. Lustrous youthful ruby. Concentrated, a little exotic and still, compact on the nose with hints of old leather and a suggestion of gingerbread. Juicy red and dried fruit and soft gripping tannins. Doesn't immediately remind me of Nebbiolo but perhaps that comes with more bottle age. Surprisingly high acidity for this torrid vintage. 2021– 2028’ – Walter Speller, Jancis, 16/20

Producer information Giulia Negri first produced wines in 2013 under her own label, and from 2015 has taken over the family Serradenari estate. The family has been producing wine for the past 150 years atop Serradenari - the highest peak of the Barolo. The beautiful views from Serradenari stretch across the Alps from Liguria to Mount Cervino with views of the vineyards into the horizon. Under her guidance, the property has become one of the most exciting in Piedmont. Long-aging on the skins in large foudre give the wines traditional styling combined with brilliant purity. 'I produce the Barolo because this wine to me is a work of art that belongs to the future. As to the Pinot Noir and the Chardonnay, I try to make them because I am curious.' – Giulia Negri
