'The 2019 Chiroubles Aux Craz derives from a quite different spot: higher in altitude, south-facing as opposed to east-facing and richer in rock rather than sand. It’s the most mineral, ethereal wine in the range, bursting with aromas of peonies, blood orange, rose and strawberry. Medium-bodied, satiny and precise, with lively acids, melting tannins and a saline finish, it’s showing beautifully. Drink 2021-2029.' – William Kelley, Wine Advocate, 93/100

Brambly red fruit, cranberry and red currant feature on the nose, which displays impressive vigor and a touch of orange peel coming through with time. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red cherries and wild strawberry and good depth. A little grippy toward the finish, with a welcome dab of spice on the aftertaste. | Producer information | Domaine de la Grosse Pierre is located on the slopes of Chiroubles in the heart of Beaujolais. It was started in the 1960s by Georges Passot and has passed down 3 generations to its current owner, Pauline Passot (Georges’ granddaughter). The estate has 9 hectares of vines for their three crus; Chiroubles, Morgon and Fleurie. Pauline’s philosophy is to produce wines which are a pure expression of their terroir. |
