‘The 1987 Barolo Monfortino Riserva is a wine I added to this tasting at the last minute, because that’s just the way we do things at Vinous. Silky, perfumed and super-finessed, the 1987 is absolutely exquisite. It is also an example of a year that was difficult for most producers, but a vintage in which Giovanni Conterno decided to bottle his top selection.
